Boat Excursions Traditional Dhow Experience A personalised and professional snorkeling and diving day safari to the National Marine Park of Kisite in Shimoni, graced by the presence of dolphins, with a delicious fresh Swahili seafood lunch on the island of Wasini Robinson Island By Ngalawa Or Glass Bottom Boat On a low tide you can head out for a 2-3 hour boat excursion to the local Sand Island, situated within the main reef. The snorkelling around the sandbank is great for beginners and the boat captains are always keen to show you the reef and different species of fish . Enjoy an excursion in one of Kenya’s traditional Dhows, these boats haven’t changed in design in hundreds of years and are still used by local fishermen to navigate the reefs and bring in the morning’s catch. Arrive by boat and explore the island’s mystical mangrove forest, take a low tide stroll, relax on a secluded beach and feast on a delicious lunch, freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest This forest, sacred to the Digo people, is the only one of the area's sacred forests that's open to visitors. Visiting this small grove is a nature walk, historical journey and cultural experience. As you make your way across tangled roots and chunks of ancient coral, the guide points out various plants used in traditional medicine, and there's the chance to transmit your fears and worries to an ancient tree by hugging it. Colobus Conservation Colobus Conservation is a not-for-profit conservation organisation designed to promote the conservation, preservation and protection of primates like the nationally threatened Angolan Colobus monkey (Colobus angolensis palliatus) and its coastal forest habitat in south eastern Kenya. The organisation was established in 1997 in response to an outcry from local residents about the high number of deaths of colobus monkeys on the Diani Beach road.
